Loci Table

Designed for KFI Studios

Loci is a versatile collection of tables and benches that showcases local materials and modern manufacturing.

From forest to furniture, the entire Loci line is produced within 200 miles of our client’s factory. This local sourcing significantly reduces the product’s carbon footprint while supporting local economies. Made from solid red oak, each piece is built to last and can be refinished repeatedly over its lifetime, unlike laminate or veneer alternatives.

The design is intentionally minimal to highlight the natural beauty of the materials and the skill of the makers. Thanks to an innovative fabrication process, we use solid planks to build hollow forms that maintain the look of solid wood while offering integrated cable management. Power units and wiring can be fully concealed within the structure, keeping workspaces clean and uncluttered.

Loci is conceived as a flexible system of parts. A single table can be configured in three distinct ways – waterfall, one-sided overhang, or two-sided overhang – simply by repositioning the legs. A ganging leg allows for continuous runs, allowing for design flexibility across a range of applications, from workspaces to hospitality settings.

To extend the range of finish offerings, we developed a set of custom stain colors, including nontraditional options like green and blue, that highlight the grain of the red oak while offering more expressive finish options. These are sealed with a satin clearcoat, fine-tuned in collaboration with local finishers to preserve the natural texture of the wood while meeting durability requirements.

Loci is a thoughtful response to the materials and resources available nearby. By merging sustainable forestry practices with advanced wood fabrication techniques, it delivers a product that is understated, adaptable, and deeply rooted in place.
